For intra-state transactions (same state), CGST (Central) and SGST (State) are applied equally. For inter-state transactions, IGST (Integrated) is applied. Our calculator handles both scenarios automatically.
Is a quotation legally binding?
No, a quotation is an estimate and not legally binding like an invoice. However, once accepted by the client (through a purchase order), it becomes part of the contract. Always mention validity period and terms.
What is HSN code and do I need it?
HSN (Harmonized System of Nomenclature) codes are mandatory for GST invoices if your turnover exceeds ₹1.5 crore (₹5 crore for some categories). It's good practice to include them in quotations too.
Can I use this for proforma invoices?
Yes, the format works for proforma invoices too. Simply change the title from "Quotation" to "Proforma Invoice" in the print settings or by editing the company name field.
How do I handle multiple GST rates in one quotation?
Our generator supports different GST rates per item. CGST/SGST or IGST is calculated per line item and summed up. This is useful when you sell both goods (18%) and services (12%) together.
